Welcome to the Rowan Mechanical Engineering Website!

I've been teaching in the Rowan Mechanical Engineering program since 1999. I'm actually a transplanted Northwesterner, having been raised in Clatskanie, Oregon, a small town about 60 miles from Portland. I did my undergraduate work at the University of Washington in Seattle, then moved to Penn State to get my M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.

After getting my doctorate, my wife Aileen and I moved to sunny Hannover, Germany, where I worked in the Acoustics Center of Continental Tire. My son Nathan was born while we were in Hannover, and has kept me busy ever since.

Current Projects

My big interest at the moment is being faculty advisor for the Rowan University SAE Mini-Baja team. The Rowan team competed in the Midwest competition for the first time this year (2003). I'm proud to say that the car survived the competition (and the mud) to finish 84th out of 140 teams. Not bad for the first time out! See the Clinics page for more info
