What is Construction Management?
Construction management involves overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from start to finish. Construction managers work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. They play a crucial role in ensuring that construction projects are successful and meet clients' needs while managing risks and addressing any issues that may arise during the construction process.
Students enrolled in the program learn about construction cost estimating, project scheduling, construction contract law, communication and leadership skills, and professional ethics in the field of construction. After graduating, students can apply their skills across various construction roles (site management, scheduling, estimating, procurement, safety) and various market sectors, such as residential construction (houses, townhomes, apartment communities), commercial projects (shopping malls, hospitals, skyscrapers), and infrastructure (roads, bridges, airports). Some students may even go on to create their own construction/development company.
