Rowan Immersive Learning
At Rowan, the future of learning isn’t imagined. It’s experienced. The Dreamscape Learn Center at Campbell Library marks a leap forward in immersive, virtual reality-enhanced education. Rowan created the center to transform how students engage with coursework, placing them inside cinematic, interactive stories that make academic concepts feel relevant and deeply resonant.
Using VR, students can step into the role of a biologist tracking alien wildlife, an art historian studying global masterpieces or a first responder navigating the aftermath of a simulated disaster. Each experience places them at the center of the action, guided by their instructors through engaging, story-driven academic missions.
Virtual, but together
The center’s dedicated VR classrooms are equipped with headsets, sensors and tactile feedback tools, allowing students to collaborate or work individually inside vivid, interactive worlds.
Immersive Curriculum
Rowan leads the first group of universities to adopt Dreamscape Learn® immersive curriculum and cutting-edge VR technology. Hundreds of Rowan students each semester enroll in courses that utilize VR in our Dreamscape Learn Center, such as introductory biology for non-STEM majors.
And this is just the beginning...
Rowan faculty are developing immersive courses in other disciplines:
- animal anatomy for veterinary students, using 3D-visualization tools for interactive study of musculoskeletal, vascular and organ systems,
- clinical skills simulations for physicians, nurses and allied health professionals, using immersive training scenarios,
- and much more to come, from humanities to engineering.

Free Roam VR Pod
In addition to VR course offerings on the main campus in Glassboro, we also have a Free Roam VR Pod. The pod delivers a premium shared virtual reality experience. It supports up to six participants who can move freely within a large, tracked space and interact with each other and their virtual surroundings in real time.
The system features advanced haptic feedback and environmental effects, such as air bursts and water mist, adding a multisensory dimension to each experience. These effects make the virtual world feel remarkably real—every splash, tremor and gust is felt by participants as they explore together.
Current Experience: “Magic Projector”
In “Magic Projector,” participants are drawn into a cinematic, story-driven adventure guided by a mysterious antique projector. As scenes shift and environments transform, players must work together to solve puzzles, uncover hidden elements, and progress through an adventurous narrative.
The experience emphasizes collaboration, exploration, and critical thinking, making it ideal for both educational demonstrations and immersive entertainment.
Student Hiring
We are not hiring at the moment. However, each semester, we hire student operators to support our virtual reality pods, assisting with in-class VR sessions and helping maintain the immersive learning environment. Available positions will be advertised here and elsewhere throughout campus. Students interested in this paid position should email dsltours@rowan.edu for more information.
