 2018 Rowan Biomedical Engineering Graduate Receives Prestigious Graduate Fellowship

 kelseySumma cum laude graduate Kelsey DeFrates, a Goldwater Scholar in Rowan's Department of Biomedical Engineering, will pursue her doctorate in biomedical engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.

 

The National Science Foundation awarded Kelsey DeFrates a 2018 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (NSF GRF). The highly competitive NSF GRF is awarded to outstanding graduate and graduating undergraduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and social science disciplines who are pursuing research-based degrees. With the NSF GRF, DeFrates will have three years of financial support within a five-year fellowship period – a $34,000 annual stipend and $12,000 cost-of-education allowance to the graduate institution – and opportunities for international research and professional development.
