Abstract:

Digital twins, virtual replicas of physical assets powered by real-time data and AI, are revolutionizing energy infrastructure analysis by enabling predictive maintenance, optimization, and resilience in systems like power grids and renewable energy networks. This presentation explores the integration of digital twins and AI, their applications in energy sectors, benefits such as cost savings and efficiency gains, challenges including data integration, and future trends toward smarter, sustainable infrastructure.

 

Biography:

Mr. Marshall is a recognized industry expert in power system engineering, with more than four decades of experience in system design, maintenance, analysis, reliability assessment, power quality, resiliency, and planning. His expertise extends to large-scale wind and solar integration and the application of digital twins for modernizing energy infrastructure.  He has held technical and leadership roles at Ameren Corporation, Duke Energy, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, as well as with leading consulting firms, engineering and construction companies. His project portfolio spans major utility initiatives across North, Central, and South America, Africa, and Europe.  He is a past recipient of the ABB Power T&D President’s Award of Excellence for his contributions to reliability-based planning and optimization, and is a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states.
