Society of Women Engineers — Engineers in Training (SWEET)
SWEET (Society of Women Engineers: Engineers in Training) is a dynamic, hands-on engineering outreach program hosted each spring by the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering at Rowan University. Open to all middle school students (grades 6–8), SWEET invites participants to explore the exciting world of engineering through interactive activities, team-based design challenges, and real-world problem solving.
Sponsored by the PSEG Foundation, SWEET is a collaborative effort between Rowan engineering faculty, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) student chapter at Rowan, and SWE South Jersey, creating a strong network of mentors from academia, industry, and student organizations. Participants engage in a wide range of activities—from building bridges and wind turbines to exploring biomedical and chemical engineering concepts—while learning directly from engineers and role models in the field.
The workshop is typically held on two Saturdays in the spring (one in March and one in April), offering students a welcoming and inspiring environment to discover how engineers make a difference in the world. SWEET is a highly engaging program that sparks curiosity, builds confidence, and encourages middle school students to envision themselves as future engineers.
