Graduate Programs
Rowan Engineering’s Graduate Program incorporates cutting-edge multidisciplinary research, development of core competencies, including communication, ethics, and business acumen, and immersive experiences, such as industrial and federal laboratory collaborations, academic teaching apprenticeships, and international exchange opportunities.
Our graduate programs are attracting recent graduates, nationwide and overseas, and industry professionals who want to take their education, and in turn, their careers to the next level. The graduate mission features a range of research labs and four dedicated centers: Virtual Reality (VR) Center, Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Institute (AMMI), Center for Research & Education in Advanced Transportation Engineering Systems (CREATES), and Sustainable Facilities Center.
We offer certificates of graduate studies (COGS), Master of Science (MS), Master of Engineering Management (MEM), and Doctoral (Ph.D.) programs in a broad range of engineering disciplines. These advanced credentialing and degree opportunities prepare graduate students for careers in industry, government, national labs and academia.

Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering
Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) is critical for developing new technologies. Little progress can be made without design, synthesis and utilization of new and advanced materials. MSE lies at the intersection of chemistry, physics, and engineering. The objectives of an MSE researcher are to understand how various parameters (processing, composition, thin film/bulk, atomic arrangements, etc.) dictate structure (micro, atomic, macro) and contribute to determining the properties and overall performance of a material or device. Most research projects are externally sponsored (by federal and state agencies as well as industry) and therefore are at the cutting edge of technology development. Rowan University invites you to apply to the Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering Program, an interdisciplinary collaboration of the College of Science & Mathematics (CSM) and the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering (HRCOE).
