College Awards Program
Celebrate excellence within the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering by nominating outstanding individuals in three key categories: faculty, graduate students, and support staff. Nominations are due by Monday, February 10, 2025, at 5 PM. Please submit your nomination package to Jenn Bing (bing@rowan.edu). The required contents of each nomination package vary by award; please review the below award descriptions and submission guidelines.Faculty Awards
Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Research Excellence Award
This award honors faculty members who, within the last year, have made exceptional contributions to research, with a focus on quality, impact, innovation, and sustained excellence. Nominees are evaluated based on the significance of their research, the impact of their findings, success in securing external funding, and peer recognition.
Automatic Nomination:
The recipient of the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Research Excellence Award will automatically be nominated for the Rowan University Research Achievement Award.
Award Criteria:
- Quality: Has the nominee made significant advancements in research in their field of interest?
- Institutional Impact: Has the research involved students or been applied in the classroom?
- Recognition: Have publications in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at professional meetings, or honors/awards resulted from this work?
Application Package:
The nomination package should include:
- The package should include a well-crafted nomination letter from the department head, addressed to the awards committee. Additionally, only one nomination per award is allowed per department.
- A nominee-written, one- to two-page summary of their research, addressing the criteria.
- A two-page resume from the nominee.
Deadline: February 10, 2025, at 5 PM.
Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Innovation & Entrepreneurship Award
This award recognizes faculty who have demonstrated outstanding innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, translating research into practical applications, fostering a culture of innovation, and impacting industry or startup ecosystems.
Application Package:
The package should include a well-crafted nomination letter from the department head, addressed to the awards committee. Additionally, only one nomination per award is allowed per department.

Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Teaching Excellence Award
This award celebrates faculty members who demonstrate a passion for impactful teaching, innovative educational approaches, and significant contributions to student learning and engagement.
Application Package:
The package should include a well-crafted nomination letter from the department head, addressed to the awards committee. Additionally, only one nomination per award is allowed per department.

Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Service Excellence Award
This award recognizes faculty for their exceptional service to both the university and the broader community, exemplifying leadership, collaboration, and service within the engineering field.
Application Package:
The package should include a well-crafted nomination letter from the department head, addressed to the awards committee. Additionally, only one nomination per award is allowed per department.

Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Undergraduate and Graduate Mentorship Award
This award honors faculty who provide exceptional mentorship to students, guiding them through research, engineering clinics, and fostering a supportive environment for intellectual growth.
Application Package:
The package should include a well-crafted nomination letter from the department head, addressed to the awards committee. Additionally, only one nomination per award is allowed per department.

Graduate Students Awards
Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Graduate Research Excellence Award
This award celebrates graduate students for their outstanding research achievements, particularly those who have completed post-qualifier exams. Nominees are evaluated on the impact, innovation, and quality of their research contributions.
The recipient of the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Graduate Research Excellence Award will automatically be nominated for the Rowan University Research Award for Excellence in Graduate Research.
Application Package:
The package should include a well-crafted nomination letter from the departmental unit, addressed to the awards committee. Additionally, only one nomination per award is allowed per department.
Award criteria:
- Originality: Is the project at the forefront of the applicant’s professional field?
- Impact: Is there potential for the project to result in a significant advancement in the applicant’s field of interest?
- Quality: Is the research work presented with appropriate technical content, style, and language?
The application package should be submitted electronically and consists of:
- A letter of nomination from a faculty member
- A student-written one to two-page summary of their research
- A student-written one-page biographical sketch that includes a description of their role in the research, the impact of the research on their knowledge and skills, and their future goals

Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award
This award recognizes teaching assistants for their outstanding pedagogical skills, effective communication, and commitment to enhancing students' learning experiences.
Application Package:
The package should include a well-crafted nomination letter from the department head, addressed to the awards committee. Additionally, only one nomination per award is allowed per department.
Deadline: February 10, 2025, at 5 PM
Staff Awards
Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Extraordinary Support Award
This award honors staff members who have provided exceptional support to faculty and students, going above and beyond in fostering a positive academic environment.
Automatic Nomination:
The recipient of the College Extraordinary Support Award will automatically be nominated for one of the University Awards, either the Customer Service Award or the Individual Teamwork Award.
Application Package:
The package should include a well-crafted nomination letter, addressed to the awards committee, from a faculty member, administrator, or staff member.
The nomination letter should include:
- The rationale for the nomination
- Information about the nominee’s department and role
- A description of how the nominee goes above and beyond their regular responsibilities by providing exceptional support to faculty and students, fostering a positive academic environment.
Deadline: February 10, 2025, at 5 PM
Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Staff Innovation Award
This award recognizes professional staff for their innovative thinking and contributions that significantly improve the College's operations and support its mission.
Automatic Nomination:
The final recipient of the College Staff Innovation Award will automatically be nominated for the University Staff Innovation Award.
Application Package:
The package should include a well-crafted nomination letter, addressed to the awards committee, from a faculty member, administrator, or staff member.
The nomination letter should include:
- The rationale for the nomination
- Information about the nominee’s department and role
- A description of how the nominee exceeds their regular responsibilities through innovative thinking and exceptional contributions.
