Dr. Zhang’s research focuses on environmental remediation through sustainable approaches. Water/wastewater treatment and soil remediation towards a circular economy model have been explored. Both biological and physico-chemical methods have been applied to the removal of legacy and emerging contaminants (e.g., selenium, PFAS, nutrients, and metals) as well as the recovery of valuable resources (e.g., SeNPs). Dr. Zhang is currently working on developing green technologies for watershed restoration and for the removal of PFAS species from water and soil matrices.
