Find out more about chemical engineering and our program below. What is Chemical Engineering?
Chemical Engineering is an engineering discipline that transforms raw materials into useful products. Examples of chemically-engineered products include antibiotics and vaccines, pharmaceuticals, clean water, fuels, fertilizers, adhesives, fabrics, catalytic converters, electronic chips, and batteries.
Chemical Engineers design and develop chemical processes to make these products on a manufacturing scale that are efficient, cost-effective, safe, and environmentally responsible. To achieve these goals, chemical engineers apply their knowledge and skills in math, economics, and sciences and in particular chemistry.
Why Chemical Engineering?
Chemical Engineers are leaders at the forefront in creating global solutions that seek to enhance the quality of life and benefit society. We seek to make better medicines, produce cleaner fuels, reduce waste and pollution, harness renewable energy sources, and develop more sustainable technologies. The versatile and valuable skills of chemical engineers are sought after in many career fields, including chemicals, materials, pharmaceuticals, biomedicine, electronics, food and beverage, aerospace, renewable energy, nuclear energy, green manufacturing, military and defense, and research and development. These careers enable chemical engineers to command high paying salaries, typically one of the highest in any engineering discipline, and provide job security and advancement.
