2024 EPA Grant
2024 EPA Grant
ChE Faculty receive an EPA Pollution Prevention Research Grant
ChE faculty, Drs. Robert Hesketh (lead PI) and Kirti Yenkie, receive a two-year, US$350K research grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as part of the agency's efforts to support initiatives on pollution prevention (P2).
The grant will enable Drs. Hesketh and Yenkie and their team to pursue work to reduce and replace fluorochemicals commonly used in the electric power and electronics industries. These fluorochemicals, like sulfur hexafluoride and trifluoromethane, have high global warming potentials (GWPs), and reducing their use by developing new replacement technologies will help to lower pollutant emissions and enhance overall environmental sustainability for critical industries.
