New ChE Faculty 2024
We welcome our new Chemical Engineering faculty!
Dr. Xiaohui Xu
Dr. Xiaohui Xu will join us in January 2025 as a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Rowan University. Dr. Xu is part of Rowan's focused recruitment of talent in its Catalysts for Sustainability program with a university-wide cohort of faculty that aims to catalyze new collaborative initiatives in sustainability research, advocacy, and education.
Dr. Xu will be coming from her current position of Associate Research Scholar at Princeton University, where she was previously a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow with Prof. Rodney Priestley and co-founded AquaPao, a startup company that utilizes solar energy for clean water technologies. Dr. Xu received her MS and PhD degrees from Chang'an University, China, and was a visiting PhD student for two years at the Helmholtz Centre for Materials and Energy in Germany.
Dr. Xu's research at Rowan will center on engineering soft matter functional materials in three overarching technological themes: (i) carbon capture and storage; (ii) recyclable plastics; and (iii) clean water production. She will leverage her expertise and pursue collaborative, multidisciplinary action towards addressing our environmental and societal crises.
