ChE faculty receives new NJDEP grant to develop glass recycling efforts in South Jersey

Dr. Joseph Stanzione receives a new NJDEP grant to expand glass recirculation efforts in South Jersey. The two-year $375K project aims to grow the recently established Glass Education, Research, and Recirculation Program (GERRP) that is a partnership between Rowan's Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Institute (AMMI) led by Dr. Stanzione and Bottle Underground.

The goal of GERRP is to recirculate waste glass and connect the supply to end-users on Rowan's campus and in the surrounding local economy. The new project will expand the program into high-density locales around South Jersey, including the city of Camden, Mount Laurel Township, and the Millville/Vineland area.

The project is expected to establish GERRP's glass recirculation model into urban areas, and in particular in Glassboro, where Rowan's campus is located, to bring glass back to the region as the ultimate vision of Re-Glassing Glassboro.
