New ChE Faculty 2023
Introducing our new Chemical Engineering faculty!
For this new academic year, we welcome two Chemical Engineering faculty to our department. They add significant value to our department in the areas of tissue engineering and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Andrea VernengoDr. Andrea Vernengo joins us this Fall as a tenured Associate Professor with joint appointments in the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Vernengo is previously a Rowan Chemical Engineering faculty, and returns to us after taking time to pursue research at the AO Research Institute Davos in Switzerland. She received her PhD in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University. Dr. Vernengo's research focused on 3D spatial patterning of cells in musculoskeletal tissue engineering to enable better osteopathic treatment. (research image: adapted from Curr. Opinion. Biomed. Dr. Jun Hee JangDr. Jun Hee Jang will join us in January 2024 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor. Dr. Jang comes to us from the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), where he is a postdoctoral researcher with Dr. Gregg Beckham. He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), MS from Seoul National University, and BS from Korea University. Dr. Jang's research focuses on heterogeneous catalysis to enable biorefining of lignocellulosic feedstock and upcycling of plastic waste towards greater environmental sustainability. |
