Mechanical Engineering Technology

The Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering has partnered with Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) to establish South Jersey’s first four-year Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program. The B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology is a four-year, career-oriented, hands-on degree program. The broad scope of the curriculum prepares graduates for a variety of career paths, including product design and development, machinery and processes, manufacturing, operations, and technical sales.

Industries that hire mechanical engineering technologists include transportation, power and energy systems, climate control, machine design, manufacturing, materials, and automation.

A distinctive feature of the program is the Technology Clinic sequence, modeled after Rowan University’s nationally recognized Engineering Clinics. These eight-semester clinics provide students with hands-on, interdisciplinary design experiences focused on solving real-world engineering problems. The curriculum also includes strategically designed courses in areas such as computer-aided design and manufacturing, automation and control systems, manufacturing processes, and applied thermodynamics.

The Mechanical Engineering Technology program is jointly offered by Rowan College of South Jersey and Rowan University. Students complete their first two years of coursework with RCSJ on the Vineland campus and finish the final two years at Rowan University in Glassboro.

Through this unique partnership, students benefit from the affordability of completing their first two years at RCSJ while gaining access to Rowan University’s academic resources, modern laboratories, and state-of-the-art engineering equipment beginning in their junior year.
