Program Goals & Objectives
Program Goals & Objectives
Mission Statement
To build a nationally recognized program of excellence in Surveying Engineering Technology by providing graduates with engineering, scientific, technological, and problem-solving skills to be leaders at local, regional, and national levels.Program Educational Objectives
It is expected that a few years after earning their degrees, graduates of the Surveying Engineering Technology Program will be able to:
Proficiently use mathematics, science, measurement methods, and modern surveying tools to collect and analyze spatial data.
Proficiently apply basic principles of land surveying, professional practice, and professional ethics to design and conduct surveys and to analyze and interpret data in surveying applications.
Effectively communicate technical and professional information in written, verbal, and graphic forms, as an individual and as a professional team member.
Demonstrate their recognition of the importance of professional organizations for professional advancement and the development of leadership skills, as well as the benefits of participating in activities of professional organizations and advancing to leadership positions within the organizations.
Student Outcomes
By the time they graduate, students are expected to demonstrate the following:
an ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline,
an ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline,
an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly-defined technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature,
an ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes, and
an ability to function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams
