5/6/21 - Dr. Laura Osorno, a former PhD student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Rowan, will be presenting her research on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the virtual Biomedical Engineering Emerging Scholars Symposium at Boston University. The symposium awardees include 6 speakers from Universities across the country – Cornell University, Carnegie Mellon University, Purdue University, the University of Washington, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Rowan University. Dr. Osorno’s doctoral work included the engineering of advanced biomaterials for ocular drug delivery with a focus on novel treatments for post-capsule opacification after cataract surgery. She is currently a post-doctoral fellow in biomedical engineering and regenerative medicine at New Jersey Institute of Technology. The Emerging Scholars Symposium is geared to support and promote the next generation of top academic faculty members who are from historically underrepresented groups in the field and offers emerging scholars the opportunity to present their work to a diverse audience and network with other established researchers.
