Mechanical Engineering (ME)

Mechanical Engineering

The Rowan University Mechanical Engineering (ME) Program offers an innovative and student-centered program, incorporating leading-edge educational methods that blend theory with engineering practice. The program provides students with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering science and design, and emphasizes the development of effective communication, teaming skills, and professional responsibility, in preparation for a career in a diverse global workforce.

Throughout the curriculum, students are exposed to mechanical engineering methods using hands-on state-of-the-art experiments, modern computational tools, and problem synthesis and solution approaches. The Mechanical Engineering Program is committed to graduating students that have technical excellence, a commitment to professional responsibility, and lifelong learning skills.

Prospective Students

The undergraduate program emphasizes a hands-on, practice-based approach to provide a broad engineering education in mechanical engineering. Our graduates are well prepared for professional careers, advanced studies in mechanical engineering, or graduate studies in professional fields such as business or law.

Undergraduate Program

The Rowan University Mechanical Engineering Program is a student-centered, primarily undergraduate program that incorporates leading-edge educational methods and technology with engineering practice. We prepare students for careers in the global mechanical process industry and related fields, and for advanced degree study. Our program provides students with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering science and design, and emphasizes the development of effective communication and teaming skills, and professional responsibility in preparation for a career in a diverse global workforce.

Graduate Program

The mission of the mechanical engineering graduate program is to develop scholarly and professional leaders who contribute to knowledge through the development of original and multidisciplinary research, through the pursuit of solutions to important societal problems, and through assertive dissemination of new knowledge, all the while cultivating a passion for mentoring future mechanical engineers.

Engineering Clinics

The Clinic concept is the signature facet of Rowan's unique engineering curriculum. Inspired by   the medical education model, the clinic program is the place where students, faculty, theory and engineering applications converge. It's the place where students experience a hands-on approach to learning about engineering, under the guidance of credentialed engineers. Clinics are a continuous and substantial part of the curriculum and thread the entire four-year undergraduate program.

Faculty & Staff

Meet the Mechanical Engineering Department faculty and staff.

Research

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Rowan University has an interdisciplinary research program. Our faculty and research staff partner with government laboratories and industries as well as other departments and colleges at Rowan University. These collaborative efforts lead to fundamental discoveries in various areas of science and engineering.
