Message from the Chair

Welcome to the website of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rowan University. The discipline of Civil and Environmental Engineering, which is the oldest engineering profession, will take center stage in the 21st century as infrastructure construction and maintenance (Infrastructure Report Card) and energy and the environment (Engineering Challenges) become our nation's priority. Our Department at Rowan is actively engaged in providing enriching experiences via our innovative curriculum to prepare our students to tackle these global challenges. Our faculty provide outstanding educational and exciting research experiences. Our program has seen a strong growth in areas such as SMART cities, sustainable development, advanced transportation materials, resiliency, community outreach and global engagement. The CEE program's teaching and research activities are one of the best with state of the art facilities. We have two new centers for research:CREATEs and the Sustainable Facilities Center. 

The department values diversity and is intimately involved in developing inclusive curriculum. We offer a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) along with MSCE and PhD degrees. Our students are represented from many countries around the globe. We also offer a BA in Construction Management and a Masters in Engineering Management (MEM).

Our graduates are highly successful in research and the workplace as evidenced by employer feedback, graduate school placement and job placement. This website will help you discover the incredible contributions that the current students, alumni and faculty are making to improve the profession and the community they live in.

These are exciting times for our program and the engineering field and I hope you will share in the excitement by exploring our program through our website.
