The American Society of Mechanical Engineers is a professional organization dedicated to setting standards and promoting engineering, providing opportunities for members to utilize various professional development resources and participate in competitions and events. ASME codes and standards, publications, conferences, continuing education, and professional development programs provide a foundation for advancing technical knowledge and assisting the next generation of engineers.
ASME at RownThrough ASME, mechanical engineering students at Rowan University can design and build a trebuchet and participate in a variety of competitions and events. The Rowan University Chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers is a student-ran organization that has been active for over 20 years, providing assistance to mechanical engineering students and hosting events at Rowan University. |
Main Event
PUMPKIN CHUNKIN
Teams from all over the state design, build, and use trebuchets to launch pumpkins. On the day of the competition, these trebuchets compete against one another to see which one can launch pumpkins the furthest. This competition provides a valuable and engaging engineering experience unique to ASME, testing participant’s knowledge of kinematics, projectile motion, and more.
