Dr. Shin is studying emerging technologies that deal with electronics on a very small level, allowing them to be placed inside the body for biomedical purposes. This requires the development of energy-efficient circuits and systems.

He is additionally studying memristors, an electrical component that is just being realized today in practical applications. One application is being able to work with NASA on their CubeSat Launch Initiatives program, which will will use this new technology to enable next generation space missions.
